History
In the Liptov region you can visit the wooden articular church in the village of Svätý Kríž, open-air museum of a Liptov village in Pribylina, the UNESCO protected mountain village Vlkolínec, the Celtic archeological open air museum Havránok, city centers of Liptovský Mikuláš and Ružomberok... Moreover the central location of the Liptov region in the country makes it an ideal starting point to visit the surrounding regions, each with its own specific architecture, impressive castles, interesting museums, historical cities, folklore habits...
Nature
The region is surrounded by the highest peaks of the country, there is still unspoiled nature, lakes, hundreds of kilometres of marked hiking tracks... it is a paradise for hikers. Further there are the breathtaking caves of Demänovská dolina, the waterfall of Lúčky, the canyon of Prosiek. We will gladly give you detailed advise about the hiking and cycling possibilities in Liptov region.
Fishing
Slovakia might not be a very well-known destination, but for fly fishermen it´s paradise. Think of the unspoiled nature, beautiful fishing waters nearby and a wide variety of fish. Are you travelling with your wife, or a group of friends, we have something for all. While you are fishing, your wife can relax in our wellness centre. In addition, we have a safe space for your boots, nets and other equipment.
Winter sports
Slovakia is for many an unknown destination for winter sports. It is a perfect place for more “recreational” skiers, also for the beginners, or for people who just want to enjoy snow. The Liptov region has in average 120 days of snow, and the best conditions are from half of December till end of March. The best places for winter sports are the resorts Jasná, Skipark Ružomberok, parksnow Donovaly and parksnow Štrbské pleso.
Folklore
Folklore traditions are still alive in the region. You will notice them in daily life but also during different folklore festivals, mostly in summer. The largest festival of the country, Východná folklore festival, takes place during the first weekend of July. In the summer season hotel Sojka organizes once a week a folklore evening with live folklore music.
Thermal parks and wellness
The Liptov region has many natural warm water sources. Bešeňová is only a few kilometers from the hotel and Aquapark Tatralandia is just on the other side of the lake Liptovská Mara. We wish you lots of fun in the hot water.
Sports and other activities
Would you like to loosen you energy or to feel the adrenalin in the blood? The region has a lot of possibilities…good hiking in the mountains, rock climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, kayak, rafting, horse riding, surfing, sailing, tennis, cycling, carting…or less active: fishing, relaxing on the beach near the lake, disco or bowling…
